The Human Energy Field

Aura _ human energy field

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.

Aristotle

In the same manner that we are all contained within the Field of Consciousness (a web of energy that contains all), a human being is also contained within an energy field, commonly called a light body, or aura.

Our light body is our energetic duplicate.

This energy field, combined with our consciousness, determines the health and balance of our mind, body, and spirit. It surrounds a normal, healthy person in an egg shape and extends five to eight feet around the body.

As well as the aura, our body also has two subtle energy systems through which energy flows: meridians (body energy pathways) and chakras (body energy centers). All three emit electromagnetic energy and light.

Meridians

In traditional Chinese medicine, meridians are invisible energy pathways or channels that run through the body.

Our vital life energy, also called qi or chi, is thought to flow along these meridians; and when this circulation becomes stagnant, blocked, or out of balance, illness results. These meridians flow through all of the major organs.

Traditional Chinese medicine uses acupuncture as a technique for balancing this life force (qi) by placing extremely thin needles at specific points along these meridians. By harmonizing and balancing the flow of this energy, the acupuncturist believes that the energy flow will re-balance.

Chakras

Chakras explained

The human body has energy stations located throughout the body, referred to as chakras.

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means “wheel.”

Each chakra is associated with a certain part of the body and a certain organ that provides the energy it needs to function. To be healthy, our seven main chakras need to stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow.

Some books refer to the existence of seven main chakras which are located along the spine and extend out the front and back of the body.

Current books talk about seven main chakras that run throughout the body, plus five more chakras:

    • Three higher trans-personal chakras at the back of the head
    • One Soul Star chakra about six inches above the head
    • One more Stellar Gateway chakra about twelve inches above the head, for a total of twelve.

The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC in ancient Hindu texts called Vedas.

Through the chakra system, the aura layers transmit information between the body and the immediate external environment.

Each chakra corresponds to a layer of the aura and has a number of specific qualities.

The lower chakras are associated with fundamental emotions and needs and vibrate at a lower frequency, while the upper chakras vibrate quicker and correspond to our higher mental and spiritual aspirations and faculties.

The work of Dr. Burr

Harold Saxton Burr, Ph.D., Professor of Anatomy at Yale University School of Medicine, discovered that all living things, plants, trees, animals, and human beings possess energy fields, or what he termed Fields of Life, or L-Fields.

He was able to demonstrate an accurate and repeatable technique for measuring these fields using standard voltmeters.

In his book, Blueprint for Immortality: The Electric Patterns of Life, Burr claimed that the life field of all living things molds and controls each organism’s development, health, and mood.

Dr. Burr published, either alone or with others, more than 93 scientific papers and made thousands of measurements. He postulated that these fields are the blueprints of all life on Earth.

Some of his findings were:

    • Every living thing possesses an L- Field.
    • All diseases show up in a body’s energy field, not only while disease is present but even before symptoms arise.
    • People’s emotional stability can be determined by looking at their L-Field. Based on over 30,000 measurements on human beings, the higher the reading, the better the subject was feeling, and vice versa.
    • Cancer and other diseases can accurately be predicted well in advance by measuring voltage gradients. Burr’s voltmeter technology was extended to cancer populations in two publications that were reported in the mainstream journals American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Science (Langman & Burr, 1947, 1949)

Kirlian Photography

Aura kirlian photographyThe L-Field (aura) has also been captured in Kirlian photography.

Semyon Davidovich Kirlian was a Russian inventor and researcher who discovered that passing a high frequency electrical current through an object while photographing it revealed an image surrounded by a bright luminous aura.

The resulting image of the object with its colored aura around it was able to indicate stress, illness, and other mental, emotional, and physiological issues according to the colors, clarity, size, and shape of the aura.

Numerous healers have associated the aura with a person’s health and well-being, and this was corroborated by the work of Dr. Burr.

The aura, and changes within it reflects physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of the individual.

Weakened auras can result in and reflect feelings of failure and health problems.

Kirlian’s first scientific paper on Kirlian photography was published in 1961, in the Russian Journal of Scientific and Applied Photography.

In 1949, Semyon Kirlian and his wife received a Soviet patent on their device: “A method of photographing by means of high-frequency currents.”

They claimed that Kirlian photography could provide clues to a person’s physical health and could illuminate the acupuncture points of the human body.

Light can be photographed coming out of the hands of healers too.

The Characteristics of the aura, or Field of Energy

Aura layers

The aura has seven main layers, each of them relating to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the human being. The layers are arranged one inside the other. The speed and vibration of energy is increased on each level.

We can feel the aura when we realize that the space we occupy doesn’t end with the physical body.

Often we feel uncomfortable when somebody is too close to us, “in our face.” Being in large crowds also poses a challenge for some people.

Each level of the aura is connected to our seven main chakras:

1. First Layer: The Etheric Body

This is the energy closest to the physical body and the densest. It transmits energies from the higher bodies down to our physical body.

It is stronger when we have our basic needs covered, like food and shelter.

It is connected to the first chakra, the root chakra.

2. Second Layer: The Emotional Body

This layer affects our emotional balance. All our emotions, such as happiness, contentment, grief, sadness, and hate are found here.

The second layer becomes weaker at times of emotional distress. It also includes a full range of desires, from completely selfish and destructive ones to high spiritual aspirations and the desire to help others.

It is connected to the second chakra, the navel chakra

3. Third Layer: The Mental Body

This layer is connected to our conscious state of mind, thoughts, memories, and reasoning skills.

Its vibration is finer and higher than that of the emotional layer. Mental health or mental illness is reflected in this level.

It is connected to the third chakra, the solar plexus chakra.

4. Fourth Layer: The Astral Level.

This layer is the bridge between the denser, lower vibrations of the subtle layers, and the higher layers of spiritual vibrations.

It shows our capacity for unconditional love; it becomes stronger through loving relationships and weaker during conflicts or breakups.

The astral level connects us to the higher dimensions of reality: near-death experiences, hallucinations, experiences outside the body, and imagination. It is activated by meditation.

It is connected to the fourth chakra, the heart chakra.

The next three layers are contained in what is referred to as the spiritual aspects of the human being:

5. Fifth Layer: The Etheric Template Body.

In this layer, we store the present and all the possible futures. It can be made stronger by expressing our truth and knowing who we are.

It is connected to the fifth chakra, the throat chakra.

6. Sixth Layer: The Celestial Body.

This layer gives access to higher feelings (bliss, spiritual ecstasy), thoughts, and manifestations.

When this body is developed through raising awareness, personal growth, and creative visualization, it can be extremely powerful in connecting us with our purpose in life.

It is connected to the sixth chakra, the third eye chakra.

7. Seventh Layer: The Ketheric Template or Causal Body

This is the farthest away from the physical body.

It contains the soul’s plan for our life and reflects all the knowledge and experiences that the soul has gained during the current and prior lifetimes. It is associated with divine and universal consciousness.

The energies in this body spin with a very high frequency, and it is the strongest and most resistant layer. This layer contains all the other layers within it.

It is connected to the seventh chakra, the crown chakra.
