If we want to draw assistance and knowledge from the Field of Consciousness, and/or God, our guides and angels, they need to know that we want help; otherwise, they can’t intercede on our behalf.
There are many ways in which we can ask assistance from the Universe, and we will discuss them in a moment, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how.
What is important is that we do.
There is a big difference between requesting punctual help, for example, to give a great presentation at work, and requesting help for bigger life goals like finding your purpose, improving your health, or your financial situation.
For bigger goals, in conjunction with the methods explained in this post, it is also beneficial to create a document in which to set your goals.
The following methods to request assistance are not mutually exclusive – in fact, you will benefit more if you use them all.
Prayer is the most common method to ask for what we want, out loud or silently. It doesn’t have to be formal or follow a specific format.
I usually talk a lot to God, my guides and angels in my head as I go along with my day.
I also like to start the day with a prayer, not just necessarily to ask for what I want, but also to be thankful and set the intent for the day.
A long time ago I read a fantastic book by Diana Cooper called A Little Light on Angels, which explained how willing and eager our angels are to help us with everyday tasks, or whatever else we need assistance with. That book has been updated and it is now called A New Light on Angels.
You don’t have to believe in angels for them to help you. You can call on them at any time.
From a vibrational standpoint, prayer causes us to focus, and by the Laws of Attraction and Attention, everything that is in vibrational harmony with our focus will come to us.
The Law of Attention says that whatever we are giving our attention to manifests in direct relation to the amount of attention we give it.
If we focus on what we don’t want, we will begin to notice it everywhere; if we focus on what we do want, that too will begin to become our reality.
You will notice that those who speak of prosperity, have it. Those who speak most of health, have it. Those who speak most of sickness, have it. Those who speak most of poverty, have it. It is Law.
The Teachings of Abraham (Esther Hicks Books)
With our attention to any subject, the Law of Attraction delivers circumstances, conditions, experiences, other people, and all things that match our dominant vibration.
It could be argued that meditation is where you do nothing at all, and therefore you are not “asking” for anything.
However, I have found that when I need something I always benefit from meditating on it. Usually I get an idea about the next steps to resolve the problem, or I’m guided to read a specific book.
I won’t ask you to take my word for it, but you have probably read on numerous occasions how meditation is an outstanding tool for healing and manifesting.
There are also many studies that have spoken about its efficacy.
3. Write a letter
I like writing letters, usually addressed to one of the following, or all: God, the Universe, my guides, and angels.
I like to write letters the old-fashioned way with pen and paper because somehow if I use my laptop, I feel detached from the content of the letter. Also, with pen and paper I seem to get more clarity in the process.
In the same letter I put everything that is bothering me, and I don’t do many letters per subject.
I keep the letter in a drawer, and then I wait to receive guidance. Sometimes I do nothing else with it, yet at other times I might be guided to do something, such as to call a friend or relative or read a book.
The benefits of writing letters are twofold:
1. We might get clues and answers as we write; thoughts or pictures might come to our mind, which are already a partial or a full answer to our question or problem.
2. We will feel good knowing that we have started the process of doing something about our problems. After having the intent, asking is the second step to give permission to our guides and angels to help.
The difference between writing letters and setting goals is that when we write a letter we might write things down that we can’t control.
For example, if we are worried about a family member’s upcoming operation, we might ask for help for them.
We might also ask that our children be taken care of at school, or we might ask for things that eventually could end up in our goals plan (things we can control, like achieving a specific educational requirement or manifesting a dream holiday).
Praying, meditating, and writing letters are ways to connect with God, our higher self, our guides, and angels.
At the same time, you can always ask people what you need to know.
If you want a promotion, ask your boss what it takes to be promoted in your company.
Bear in mind that anything you want to do in life has probably already been accomplished by somebody else, and I mean anything you have an interest in: writing and self-publishing a book, overcoming anxiety or health issues, starting a business, or raising a child.
All these people have often documented the process to become successful, and it is likely that they have written a book about it, or they provide workshops, online courses, or seminars, or they can be contacted for mentoring.
Go and find out how they did it.
4. Use tarot or angel cards
I love tarot and angel cards.
I own numerous decks, but if you are new to them let me clarify a few things first:
– Oracle cards work depending on the intent of the author and our own intent.
Some cards will feel heavy or scary while others will feel a lot lighter and more angelic. Use your intuition when making a purchase.
– Answers depend a lot on interpretation, and most importantly, on how the question was asked.
If you ask something vague like “Will my business improve?” it is going to be very difficult to answer. What is your measure of “improvement”? Try to be clear and specific when asking.
– Don’t abuse the cards; You don’t need to ask the same thing numerous times. Do a prayer before using the cards, set clearly your intent and ask that you get an answer for the highest good of everybody concerned.
– Most importantly, don’t give your power away to the cards. Regardless of the answers that get don’t let them overrule your intuition. Most of the time they just serve you to validate what you intuitively know.
